Little by little an image began to draw upon Jyothi and she began to draw the first sketches of the book. It was called Angel of God after one of the "dreaded gangsters" henchmen swore under oath in a court of law that his boss was a Farishta or Angel - because of the manner in which the Gangster looked after his people and rewarded them for their loyalty and sincerity.
Jyothi took five years to write The Angel of God- because she hardly takes time off from work to do anything - she worked on holidays primarily and whenever she could. The book zeroed in on the protagonist Moosa Bhai who was from the slums of Mumbai and how he climbed the criminal ladder and became the don of Mumbai and beyond. The book doesn't focus too much about the criminal activities as much as it does on the organization building skills, rewards and recognition, talent retention of a criminal organization.
When it was finally published by Pustak Mahal Books - it was launched in the usual "Jyothi Menon book launch manner" with a grand opening in Chennai where almost her entire fraternity of family, /friends, colleagues, peers and the press were invited.
Her friends and even critics said that the book was fabulously written. Many people told her that the book was so good that it ought to be made into a movie.
Jyothi just smiled at them - she knew she didn't have the time to do that - to give a movie required bandwidth of time.
