Jyothi Menon got into HR from Engineering because she had this inherent passion for people. An extremely empathetic person she wanted to channel her empathy into a profession and thus chose HR as a career.

All her beliefs about what HR should be - not a straitjacketed bureaucratic organization but a humanfriendly organization - was being drawn to the fore. It remained a story until a good friend suggested that she should do a book.

The Late President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam read Jyothi's book - The Power of Human Relations. On his official stationery (which is now amongst one of her treasured collections) wrote to Jyothi - stating that he enjoyed reading The Power of Human Relations, particularly page 55 which happened to be about Jyothi's belief that the Best Brand Ambassadors are those that are working within the Organization rather than paid actors or other celebrities!

So she began writing a new book and the working title was Page 55. But then the wonderful human being that he was the Late Mr. Padmanabhan (Founder of East/West Books which later was sold to Tata's and the Tata's sold it to Amazon and which is now merged with Amazon Books) told Jyothi that Page 55 isn't a good title for a book and perhaps she could consider something else.

This book is a sureshot recipe for aspiring Executives who want to take a disciplined approach to win in their lives.

Once again set in Kerala in an old house this time it is about a young hotshot but arrogant B School Grad Executive who loses his job. However, his decent boss sends him to a mentor to help rebuild his psyche, perhaps his attitude. This is the review of the book by Arun Soni of Mohali - which sums it up best.

By now Jyothi was beginning to get very interested in organizations as they represent the larger human being or the power of togetherness. She began to see design in organizations and one day in conversation with a friend who was a lawyer by profession - they started talking about the criminal organizations. It was fascinating for Jyothi because she didn't till then think that Criminal Organizations had any structure.

The lawyer mentioned a certain dreaded gangster and she learnt about how he was portrayed in the media. He was able to attract youngsters to his organization. Here she was - part of an international organization and she had faced challenges to attract talent and then to retain talent. Yet - there they were able to attract talent without the brand building and advertising that most modern organizations insist on doing - almost effortlessly.

This book is a very poignant book that was written in the shortest time span possible - in comparison to time taken for all her books to date.

Jyothi was on a visit to Poland when a colleague began talking about the history of Poland especially about the Jewish Population in Poland and Eastern Europe and what happened to them during the Nazi regime and subsequent takeover of Poland by the German Third Reich - Hitlers powerful and brutal army.
